This WeekMonday Info Investigators by Calgary Public Library Introduction to Fractions Plants Tuesday Healing Hearts Wednesday Pink Shirt Day Special Lunch - Subway Thursday Author Visit - Amelia Lionheart Friday Small Actions Make a DifferenceInfo Investigators - Calgary Public LibrarySuzan from the Calgary Public Library came today to help us with our research skills. She shared a presentation called, Info Investigators with us. Did you know ANYONE can put stuff on the internet? How do we know which story is true when we google something? The CPL has curated trusted e-resources for us to access both at school and at home. All students need is the first part of their school email and the password 1234567 to access the resources. Or students can use their CPL card and pin if they'd rather. Students then practiced accessing the e-resources by researching the grade 4 vocabulary/concepts: Archeology, Force, Light and Shadows, Conservation, Geology, Conservation, Geology, Recycling, Sisika, Niitsitapi, Blackfeet, Plants, Toxins, Toxic, Pollution, Photosynthesis, Metis, Natural Resources, Energy, and Paleontology. We started by reading the book, Challenge: Where do you see the fractions? Our fraction goal:Demonstrate an understanding of fractions less than or equal to one by using concrete, pictorial and symbolic representations to: • name and record fractions for the parts of a whole or a set • compare and order fractions • model and explain that for different wholes, two identical fractions may not represent the same quantity • provide examples of where fractions are used. How many fractions can you name?Plants - See, Think, WonderSee - seeds - large - white Think - it’s a big seed - how will I make sure it doesn’t dry out and die overnight Wonder - does it need light to germinate? - why doesn’t it need dirt? - how much water does it need? - how big will my plant grow?
