Please make payments via the MYCBE online account.. This is the only opportunity to order a t-shirt. Make 37This was our Problem Solving Math Challenge today. Ask me how I figured out this problem and what I learned? Hint: You can't solve this problem- so Why is it impossible the way it currently is asked? How would you change the question so it can be solved? Representing NumbersWe had another opportunity to represent a number today. Our choices were 237, 3126, and 10 000. We needed to select one number and represent it in a variety of ways such as place value, with a picture, exploding dots, number sentence, skip counting, tally marks, in words, and expanded form are some ways we can represent a number. Student Vote - Friday October 13Today we discussed what we brainstormed on Thursday about What matters to us about Calgary, and what makes Calgary a great place? After reviewing this information we shared a computer and had some time to research the candidates in our area. We experienced technical challenges and slow connections and we are encouraged to do some research at home too. We will have a little time tomorrow afternoon to take a closer look at Ward 13 Councillor. http://www.calgary.ca/election/Pages/meet-the-candidates/mayoral/default.aspx B-A-L-LToday we spent a little time activating our brains and bodies by using our No Excuse Words and Word Collector words, a ball and a partner. We used the ball to help us practice these words with a partner. Our No Excuse Words are words we should know without sounding them out, they are considered sight words when we are reading. Headings- Non Fiction ArticleWe were asked the question Do cellphones belong in schools? We had a lot of opinions about why cellphones are both good and bad. After a short discussion we read an article that shared information about this issue. We learned about headings and how they cue our brain into what we are about to read. We then used the article to form an informed opinion. Ask me what I think - Do Cellphones belong in School?
