September 11-15GLURBS!!What a fantastic day! We finally...finally got to sew our glurbs. We learned a few different ways to stitch and then began sewing our eyes, mouth and accessories on to the front or back of our glurbs. We then flipped it inside out and began to stitch it shut. We used estimation and our fine motor skills to help us sew. Our GLURBS are AMAZING! And Thank you to our Volunteers we really appreciate you helping us. Get Ready to SewTomorrow we are sewing our Glurbs. Thank you to our Parent Volunteers. We will be hand-stitiching using needle and thread and starting our morning learning how to do this. GraphingWe worked as a group to translate our sorted data on to large graph paper. Stayed tuned for pictures. Look For...Two forms are coming home today. Please check your child's backpack for the School Fundraising Coupon book, and the order form for school t-shirts and yearbooks. GlurbToday we were able to pick the colours we are going to use for the front and back. We used chalk to create our print-our cutting guide. We created a prototype in our Visual Journal and many of us needed to adjust our plan based on the materials we have. Today we were reminded that we can bring in supplies from home if we would like. Our materials from home need to be with us tomorrow (Wednesday or we will have to use the materials provided by Ms. Jenn and Ms. Tanya :-) Ask me about my plan and the adjustments I made or need to make. Glurb supplies and VolunteersBring items from home by tomorrow (Wednesday September 13, 2017) Please email Ms Jenn or Ms Tanya if you are able to help us sew on Friday September 15, 2017. You must have a valid clearance. BeakerheadThe combination of Art, Science and Engineering. We had a guest named SaFire who used the art of dance and the science of optical illusions to trick our eyes and entertain us. We are Ideating and Prototyping and Adjusting our Beakerhead installation. Ask me about our installation and how we are using light and shadows to create it. September 5-8Welcome Back! - Take a look at our WeekWe are so excited to Welcome you to your Grade 4 school year. We know this is going to be a great year. Below will give you a little information about the week ahead. What Matters about a Shadow? What Matters About MY Glurb?Today we empathized and began thinking about What Matters to our Glurbs'? Our next steps are to create our own Glurb and adopt them into our classroom. Our job is to teach our Glurbs' about What Matters...to me, in our classroom, in Bridlewood and even in Alberta. Designing Our GlurbsWe have drawn a blueprint for the Glurb we would like to create. Our next step is to build it. For this we are asking that if students have material or an old t-shirt at home, or other materials they would like to use for their Glurb they bring it in for Monday. Parent Volunteers NeededWe need parent volunteers for Friday September 15 to assist with sewing and stuffing our Glurbs. If you are available to need to have a current Police Clearance and have signed your Annual Parent Volunteer form (can be signed when you come in). Please contact Ms. Jenn or Ms. Tanya at either [email protected], [email protected] or 403-777-6259
